The family of an Ohio dentist and his wife, both brutally slain, is playing down the importance of a shadowy figure caught on surveillance footage the night they were killed — as police continue to keep silent on any suspects in the baffling case.
Dentist Spencer Tepe and his wife, Monique, were discovered dead inside their home north of Columbus, Ohio, on Dec. 30 — with investigators finding no signs of forced entry, deepening the mystery surrounding their deaths.
Both victims had been shot, yet no firearm was recovered at the scene — while their two young children and the family dog were left completely unharmed, raising even more unsettling questions.

On Monday, police released surveillance footage showing a hooded “person of interest” lurking in an alley near the couple’s home during the critical window between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., when investigators believe the shootings occurred.
However, Spencer’s brother-in-law was quick to downplay the significance of the figure, urging caution against reading too much into the shadowy image.
“I do think, you know, (it’s a) suspicious-looking person there. It also very well could be … somebody walking home drunk from a bar,” Rob Misleh, who is looking after the couple’s young children, told NewsNation.

He added that the couple, “so well liked and admired by everyone,” appeared to have had no known enemies, making their deaths all the more baffling.
“They were always smiling, they were always laughing. So, it’s really just unbelievable and shocking to all of us when we found out. Still, a week later, it doesn’t, still doesn’t feel real. I can’t believe I’m, like, here talking about this,” he said.
