Cause of Death Revealed in Tragic Fall of Mitt Romney’s Sister-in-Law

Weeks after she fell from a California parking garage, medical examiners have confirmed that Mitt Romney’s sister-in-law died by suicide

Carrie Romney died from blunt-force trauma, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed on Tuesday.

The medical examiner also ruled her manner of death as "suicide."

Romney, 64, was found dead at the base of a Valencia parking garage on October 10, after apparently falling from the five-story concrete structure.

She was married to George Scott Romney, 81, the older brother of the former presidential candidate and a well-known attorney, but their marriage had been unraveling amid a bitter, months-long divorce.

They went their separate ways in May, filing for divorce after eight turbulent years of marriage, officially citing "irreconcilable differences."

The exact nature of their differences remains unclear, but court documents show that both tried to prevent the other from receiving any assets during the divorce process.

The couple had been living together in a $725,000 Valencia condo before their split, though it’s unclear if they were still sharing the home at the time of Carrie’s death.

George Romney aimed to block his wife from receiving any spousal support, insisting they had no shared property to split.

Carrie’s death occurred in a garage attached to a high-end apartment building.
