ICE Busts Crew of Illegal Immigrants With Alarming Criminal Records in NYC’s Chinatown Raid

ICE stormed New York City’s streets Wednesday, rounding up a crew of dangerous illegal immigrants — including Senegalese offenders with long criminal histories involving drug trafficking, robbery, domestic violence, and even attacks on police, authorities said.

Federal agents descended on the chaotic Chinatown strip along Canal Street between Lafayette and Centre Tuesday, swooping in on illegal vendors hawking everything from knockoff designer bags to stolen goods.

Nine migrants — most admitted into the U.S. under the Biden administration — were arrested and hauled off for deportation, Homeland Security officials said, raising fresh questions about border policies.

"ICE conducted a targeted, intelligence-driven enforcement operation on Canal Street in New York City, focused on criminal activity relating to selling counterfeit goods," said Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, in a statement Wednesday.

“ICE arrested nine illegal aliens with criminal histories including robbery, burglary, domestic violence, assaulting law enforcement, counterfeiting, drug trafficking, drug possession and forgery,” she added.

Just hours before the raid, conservative influencer Savanah Hernandez shared a video from the chaotic block, describing it as "the craziest thing I’ve ever seen."

For years, The Post has reported on illegal vendors who cram the sidewalks with fake and stolen goods, choke access to legitimate businesses, and leave the streets strewn with trash.

“They take over the sidewalk,” one merchant said Wednesday. “People can’t pass. The vendors don’t care.

“We talk to them. They want to fight,” he added.

“It’s usually the new ones. I spoke to one of them. He said, ‘What’s your problem?’ I don’t fight them. I just leave.”

NYPD quality-of-life cops have raided the vendors time and again, but each time they flee, only to swarm the sidewalks again shortly after.

Despite the brazen vendors being in the U.S. illegally and boasting long, troubling rap sheets, the federal raid set off fiery protests.

Among the two protesters charged by New York’s Finest was 34-year-old Jennifer Hansen, a self-described anarchist with six prior arrests, including a June 7 incident where she allegedly kicked a cop.

Police reported Tuesday that Hansen faces charges including disorderly conduct, obstructing governmental administration, and allegedly blocking traffic while confronting officers.

Authorities also cited a 33-year-old demonstrator for disorderly conduct, but their identity has not been revealed.

Among the five Senegalese migrants busted by federal authorities was Muhammad Ndiaye, who overstayed a tourist visa that expired back in 1995.

Other Senegalese migrants arrested included Idy Sarr, who was the subject of a 2010 deportation order; Sergigne Diop, caught at the U.S. border last year but released by the Biden administration; and Modou Mboup, who entered the country with a caravan and was also released by the previous administration.

Another Senegalese migrant, Alione Sy, remained in the country illegally after his tourist visa expired in May 2023.

Rounding out the list were Amadou Diallo, an illegal immigrant from Guinea; Bokar Soko, a fugitive counterfeiter from Mauritania; Mamadou Ndoye, a native of Mali who was ordered deported in 2008; and accused counterfeiter Aboubakar Diakite, whose country of origin was not disclosed.

All nine were in the country illegally, and six carried criminal records — including Ndiaye, who has a history of arrests for robbery, domestic violence, drug crimes, and forgery, according to federal officials.
