This includes early retirees (who will transition to Medicare when they turn 65), self-employed residents, and people employed by a small business that doesn’t offer employer-sponsored health benefits.
Using the marketplace is optional; individuals and families in Texas can choose instead to buy coverage directly from a health insurance company. But the marketplace is the only place where Texas residents can qualify for financial a-sistance benefits based on their household income. Monica, at Texan insurance has twice now saved the day. With homeowners on March and 4 cars I. September, I allied Aug 31, had a new and lower pro Ed policy effective Sept 1. I cannot say enough about how expedient she was, thorough and explained everything in defy. I wouldn’t take my business anywhere else, hard to get this type of service these days- and saved us quite a bit of money as well, thank you Monica!
Carla Miller is an exceptional agent for Texan insurance..She went over and beyond to help me get the best quote for my automobiles as well as food insurance for my home.. She did exactly what she stated she gonna do and the turn around time was very fast.. I definitely would recommend her to my family and friends.
I would like to thank Texan Insurance for offering me better rates and better coverage. I would like to especially thank Monica for the fast turnaround time on providing me the quote and her excellent communication to put my home insurance coverage in place. It was by far the easiest and fastest turnaround I have experienced with any insurance company. I will be looking at moving my car and motorcycle coverage over to them next. Thanks again to the Team at Texan Insurance! Ray
Julianne was extremely helpful! She was very knowledgeable and responsive. She always responded to my questions immediately and was great about explaining things to me so I was aware of the differences in the policies. I would highly recommend her to friends and family.
To Whom it May Concern: I have been a customer with Texan Insurance since purchasing my new home in 2017. Ms. Guzman has been right there since I began this new journey. Recently, I needed a-sistance with the quote I was receiving on my ALLSTATE APP. Ms. Guzman was so patient in working with me to get it adjusted according to previous conversations with the call center. We went back and forth with different ideas/suggestions on how to reduce my payment. She suggested a bundle with ASI Progressive but it was to expensive. We continued with a second option . That idea did not work either. I called on today to ask her opinion about the Good Student Paperwork. I submitted it to Allstate but the individual I spoke to continued to share they did not receive it. After submitting the educational document again directly to Ms. Guzman, we were able to reduce the policy where I and my son's father (Great Co-parent ) are able to split bill and pay entire payment up front. Thank you so much for such an Awesome, knowledgeable Insurance manager, who worked hard on my policy case changes for the pass three weeks. Respectfully, Ms. T. Tanner

Texas sponsors two programs to help families pay for insurance: the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) program.
Children in Texas without health insurance may be able to get low cost or free health coverage from the CHIP or Children’s Medicaid. Families with children who get Children’s Medicaid pay nothing and children with CHIP pay no more than $50 a year for health care coverage.
HIPP helps pay health insurance payments for families that have at least one person who gets Medicaid and can get insurance through a family member’s work. Your family can pick from more doctors and has more choices than with Medicaid alone.

We sincerely apologize for any delays. We are committed to providing the best service we can with the resources available at this time. Thank you for your patience.
Retirees automatically get Basic Term Life Insurance if they’re enrolled in a GBP health plan. The type of optional life insurance they have depends on what they had as employees or their decision when they retired.
Optional Term Life Insurance provides additional coverage — up to two times your annual salary when you retired (Election 1 or 2). The monthly premium is based on your coverage election, your salary and your age. Maximum coverage is $400,000, and coverage begins to decrease when you reach age 70.
If you are currently enrolled in Optional Term Life Insurance, you can decrease your coverage to Election 1 (if applicable) or Fixed Optional Life Insurance at any time. If you are not enrolled in optional life insurance and want coverage, you can apply only for Fixed Optional Life Insurance during your enrollment period or within 31 days of a qualifying life event. You must apply through evidence of insurability, and coverage isn’t guaranteed.

Medicare Advantage boosterism & a health insurance firewall
You’re reading the web edition of Health Care Inc., STAT’s weekly newsletter following the flow of money through the health care system.
We are at the point in the Medicare Advantage Discourse where health insurers have convinced themselves, and are continuing to try to convince the public, that MA saves taxpayers oodles of money. The verdict from experts on this extremely in-the-weeds issue: Don’t buy it.
The latest exhibit comes from America’s Health Insurance Plans, which released a report last week that was conducted by actuaries at Wakely Consulting Group. AHIP claims the report proves Medicare Advantage — the controversial alternative to original Medicare that has become a cash cow for insurers — is “saving Americans billions of dollars every year.” The actuaries, however, never use that language in the report.
STAT spoke with several independent Medicare policy experts, all of whom said AHIP’s report was incomplete at best and refuted by other studies that analyzed the same data. Analysts also stressed the federal government certainly isn’t reaping any savings from Medicare Advantage.
Read the story to hear the details and rebuttals about the report’s two central items: MA’s out-of-pocket cap, and comparing the spending of MA enrollees only with traditional Medicare enrollees who are eligible for Medicare Advantage.
The Texas Medical A-sociation has filed a brand new lawsuit in a district court in eastern Texas, arguing the Biden administration’s final surprise billing rule from August still puts a “thumb on the scale” for health insurers. Three dominant provider lobbying groups — the American Hospital A-sociation, American Medical A-sociation, and A-sociation of Air Medical Services — also told a judge last week they were dismissing their claims against the No Surprises Act in their D.C. district court and instead were going to cheer on their Texan comrades’ new lawsuit.
