Erie Insurance is based in Erie, Pennsylvania. The city has a lot to offer whether it’s entertainment, food or culture.
You’ll get the big city feel with the benefits of a small town in Pennsylvania’s only Great Lakes city. Erie is also centrally located and is only a few hours from major cities, including Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Buffalo and Toronto, Canada.
In Erie, there’s always something to do during all four seasons. Popular events include CelebrateErie, a four-day summer street festival, and local heritage festivals that take place throughout the year. There are also plenty of parks and green spaces in the community for everyday use and more than 25 golf courses.
Our city is also a hub for education. There are five local institutions: Penn State Behrend, Edinboro University, Mercyhurst University, Gannon University and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). There are many excellent choices, both private and public, for primary and secondary schooling in Erie as well.
Presque Isle State Park draws more visitors every year than Yellowstone National Park. During the summer, you can explore the 30 miles of freshwater shoreline by hiking, fishing, biking, boating or just enjoying the beach. This “almost island” also features miles of biking and hiking paths. You can watch the Summer Concert Series on Beach 1 or catch the sunset from Beach 6. If you’re feeling adventurous, hike out to Gull Point, Presque Isle’s protected wildlife refuge.
The arts are prevalent in downtown Erie. Keep an eye out for the unique bike racks installed downtown and the colorful decorated fish and frog sculptures around town that were commissioned in the past. Both the Warner Theater and Erie Playhouse provide entertainment year-round, as do a number of local bands and dance groups. The Erie Art Museum and Children’s ExpERIEnce Museum are centrally located downtown and offer diverse experiences to museum-goers.
