Affordable Health Insurance
The most affordable health insurance is a Bronze plan, and the cheapest company is Kaiser Permanente. Costs are based on your income, and a plan costs $336 at full price or $47 per month with a discount.
The cheapest individual health insurance for most people is a Bronze plan, which provides basic coverage at affordable rates. But the plans with the cheapest premiums may cost you more in the long run if they have a limited network of doctors or lower cost sharing benefits. To find the best cheap health insurance for you, start with the health coverage you need and then compare the cheapest quotes.
Those with low incomes can either pay a discounted rate on marketplace plans with premium tax credits or get free or low-cost insurance through Medicaid. For example, a person earning $35,000 a year would pay an average of $47 per month for the cheapest Bronze plan in each state.
Kaiser Permanente has some of the cheapest plans, with rates averaging $338 per month for a Bronze plan. If Kaiser doesn't offer plans in your area, other cheap providers include Friday Health Plan with a Bronze plan averaging $361 per month, or Ambetter at $377 per month.
When evaluating affordable health insurance policies, some companies will consistently offer lower rates than others. However, there is frequently a tradeoff when choosing a low-cost provider. For example, Kaiser Permanente health insurance has a limited network of doctors, and Ambetter has below-average customer service. These factors are important to evaluate when choosing the best policy for your family.
The cheapest health insurance for you depends on your household income and your medical needs. Focus on choosing the right type of plan first, because this will have a bigger impact on your total costs than the company you pick.

Health insurance in NJ costs 3% more in 2022, and the cheapest plans are from IHC.
The cheapest health insurance in New Jersey for most people is the IHC Silver EPO AmeriHealth Advantage $45/40% plan, costing $398 for a 40-year old. This is the most affordable Silver plan in 14 out of the state's 20 counties. In the other counties, the cheapest Silver plans are OMNIA Silver Value and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield's Value Access Silver.
The rates for these plans are low, and most Silver plans range from $500 to $1,000 per month. However, the price you actually pay for health insurance depends on your age, location and the best coverage for your medical needs.
To help you compare policies, we looked at the cheapest health plans by metal tier available on the New Jersey state exchange. The cost of coverage in New Jersey will depend on the type of plan you choose and your age.
Higher-tier plans will cost more each month, and a 40-year old will spend nearly twice as much for a Gold plan than a Bronze plan. However, higher-tier plans usually have better benefits, so those with a Gold plan would pay less to receive medical care.
The cost of health insurance also increases as you age. On average, a 40-year old in New Jersey spends 28% more on a Silver plan than a 21-year old. Moreover, someone aged 60 pays an average of 77% more than a 40-year-old for a SIlver insurance plan.

Plus, health insurance premiums can vary widely based on where you live, how much money you earn, and the size of your family.
