Insurance broker Aon plc has unveiled its Data Center Lifecycle Insurance Program (DCLP), a unique multi-line insurance solution crafted to assist clients in effectively managing risks throughout all phases of data center development and operations.
With global investment in digital infrastructure accelerating—fueled by advancements in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and growing demand for computing power—clients are encountering increasingly complex risk landscapes. According to Aon, the DCLP offers a unified solution that encompasses construction, cargo, cyber, and operational risks within a single coordinated program, resulting in enhanced capital efficiency, quicker implementation, and improved resilience throughout infrastructure projects.
“Today’s data centers are the backbone of the global economy,” said James MacNeal, global industry specialty leader of construction and infrastructure for Aon. “Our Data Center Lifecycle Insurance Program empowers clients to make better decisions, moving faster and more confidently, with protection that evolves alongside strategic assets, from physical infrastructure to digital operations.”
Key features of the DCLP:
- Up to $1.5 billion in coverage for construction all-risks, delay in start-up, and operational property damage/business Interruption,
- Construction cyber physical damage up to $400 million, including construction non-damage cyber and operational cyber and tech errors & omissions,
- Third-party liability coverage up to $100 million (excluding U.S. exposures),
- Project cargo and transport insurance up to $500 million,
- Integrated risk engineering and cyber impact modeling through Aon’s Global Risk Consulting team.
By consolidating traditionally fragmented coverages spanning multiple lines of business, Aon said the DCLP empowers clients to streamline procurement, accelerate project delivery, and boost investor confidence. The program also incorporates advanced risk engineering and cyber impact modeling, enabling clients to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate emerging threats across both physical and digital environments.
Coordinated Solution
As digital infrastructure expands in scale and importance, clients require integrated solutions that align insurance coverage with operational goals and stakeholder demands. The DCLP is designed to help clients navigate today’s complex risk landscape by consolidating protections, delivering early-stage insights during development, and equipping them with tools to proactively mitigate losses before they escalate.
“Data centers are no longer just physical assets, they are platforms for innovation, connectivity and economic growth,” said Brian Hearst, managing director of construction for Aon. “DCLP reflects our commitment to helping clients shape better decisions, protect what matters most and build enduring infrastructure for a more digital world.”
