Kraft Heinz Issues Recall of Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon Due to Listeria Concerns

Kraft Heinz is recalling approximately 367,812 pounds of its Oscar Mayer turkey bacon over concerns the product may be contaminated with Listeria bacteria, according to a statement from the U.S. food safety regulator on Wednesday.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) stated that the recall impacts fully cooked, vacuum-packed turkey bacon produced between April 24 and June 11, which was shipped to retailers nationwide and exported to the British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong.

No confirmed reports of illness linked to the consumption of the affected products have been received, the regulator stated.

FSIS detected the problem during routine laboratory testing, which indicated the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the product.

Listeria exposure may lead to listeriosis, a potentially severe illness that primarily affects those with compromised immune systems.

Kraft Heinz has not yet responded to Reuters’ request for comment.
