In an effort to draw in investors, many banks have launched special fixed deposit (FD) schemes with higher interest rates in the last few years. Compared to traditional FDs, these limited-period schemes have given depositors—especially senior citizens—a good opportunity to earn higher profits.

However, there is an increasing chance that banks won't continue to offer these special FD schemes in light of the recent rate cut by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). A decrease in policy rates may soon result in a decline in FD interest rates as interest rates typically follow the RBI's monetary policy decisions. Therefore, before the special FD deadline, investors should think about investing in these schemes if they want to get better returns.

Currently, some leading banks offering these high-interest FDs include:

State Bank of India (SBI) – Amrit Vrishti & Amrit Kalash
Indian Bank – IND Supreme 300 Days & IND Super 400 Days
IDBI Bank – Utsav Callable FD

The investment deadline for these schemes is March 31, 2025. This offers a time-sensitive investment opportunity for people who want to save as much money as possible because banks may stop offering these high-return schemes as a result of anticipated rate decreases.

SBI Amrit Vrishti

For general citizens, SBI’s Amrit Vrishti, a special tenor plan of "444 days", offers a rate of interest of 7.25%, while for senior citizens, the scheme offers an interest rate of 7.75%. The scheme will be effective till March 31, 2025.

SBI Amrit Kalash

For general residents, SBI’s Amrit Kalash, a special tenor scheme of "400 days", offers an interest rate of 7.10%; for senior citizens, it offers a rate of 7.60%. The scheme will be valid till March 31, 2025.

IDBI Bank- Utsav Callable FD

Utsav Callable FD is a special FD scheme with interest rates that vary depending on the maturity period. The last date to invest in Utsav FD is March 31, 2025.
IDBI Bank's Utsav Callable Fixed Deposit of 300-day tenure, offers interest rate of 7.05% for regular citizens, 7.55% for senior citizens and 7.55% for super senior citizens.
IDBI Bank's Utsav Callable Fixed Deposit of 375-day tenure, offers interest rate of 7.25% for regular citizens, 7.75% for senior citizens and 7.90% for super senior citizens.
IDBI Bank's Utsav Callable Fixed Deposit of 444-day tenure, offers interest rate of 7.35% for regular citizens, 7.85% for senior citizens and 8% for super senior citizens.
IDBI Bank's Utsav Callable Fixed Deposit now offers a new 555-day tenure, with an interest rate of 7.40% for regular citizens, 7.90% for senior citizens and 8.05% for super senior citizens.
IDBI Bank's Utsav Callable Fixed Deposit of 700-day tenure, offers interest rate of 7.20% for regular citizens, 7.70% for senior citizens and 7.85% for super senior citizens.

The bank has also introduced IDBI Chiranjeevi-Super Senior Citizen FD exclusive for resident individuals aged 80 years and above effective from January 13, 2025. Note that IDBI Chiranjeevi-Super Senior Citizen FD rates will remain valid only for the duration of the respective Utsav FD buckets.

Indian Bank offers special fixed deposit (FD) schemes of IND Supreme 300 Days and IND Super 400 Days. These schemes offer interest rates of up to 8.05% for super senior citizens. The last date to invest in the scheme is March 31, 2025.
