1. The pre-open market is a trading session that occurs before the regular market session opens.
2. The pre-open market session helps stabilise prices and reduce volatility by determining the equilibrium price based on the orders collected.
3. In India, the pre-open market session is a 15-minute window, from 9 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
4. The first eight minutes are to place, cancel or modify orders; the next four minutes are for order matching and calculating opening prices based on demand and supply; and the last three minutes are to transition from pre-open to regular market session.
